Frequently Asked Questions

How long does this take?

What materials can you make yoyos from?

Typically we deliver between one to three weeks of receiving an order. A majority of that time is spent finalizing designs so the more prepared your design is the faster.
Currently, 6061 Al, 7075 Al, 7068 Al, Brass, Delrin, Stainless Steel, and Titanium.

Can I make a Bimetal?

Where can you ship?

Bimetal, Trimetal, plastic/metal...we can make anything and we love to experiment.
Anywhere in the world. We charge $40 for two day shipping.

Are there discounts if I don't want my yoyos anodized?

Is there a discount if I do all the CAD?

The short answer: not for prototypes. The long answer: machining is by far the largest cost for us. Tool replacements, programing the toolpaths, and manning the machines is far more costly than anodizing. The reduction in cost would be so small that we can't give a discount, at least for prototypes. Quotes for larger runs include the discount for whatever anno you choose.
We actually charge an additional $100 for design work. We are able to correct your design for free if all you need is a proper bearing seat. So, although you can't get a discount for doing the design work on your own you won't have to pay extra for it.

The MyThrow Story

Hi! My name's Ross and I've been yoyoing for seven years (that's me on the right juggling apple sauce packets for preschoolers). At first I was super excited about yoyoing, and one of my favorite parts of my new hobby was buying new yoyo! I'm not exactly proud to say it but I've spent $2000+ on yoyos, most of which I would play with exclusively for a few days before getting bored with them and putting them in my case where they'd stay, unused, for weeks.

There were only ever two yoyos that I knew I would always love playing with: the YoyoJam PhenomIZM and the RecRev Freq. Wav. So about three years ago I decided that I wanted to make my own yoyo which would have my favorite features of both. I sketched a design on some graph paper and knew that it would would be my favorite yoyo...if only I could get it made.

So I went online and joined a yoyo design group on Facebook where I learned all about yoyo design, but noone there actually seemed to be making yoyos, just designing them. I asked around and was told to ask OneDrop, which I did, and was told that they were booked for the next few years, and even if they could make my design they were asking for insane amounts of money. I refused to go to a local machinist because I knew that most machinists would treat a yoyo like any other toy and my yoyos would probably come out vibey. That's when I found Fenghuida Precision.

The first time I talked to Jacky was through a Facebook chat. He told me, in very broken english that he owns a machine shop in China and that he could make my yoyo with better quality and at a lower cost than anyone else. I questioned him for hours to make sure that he was legit, sent him my design and some money, and one week later, my yoyo was on it's way (you can check out a picture below).

It was everything I'd wanted in a yoyo. Dead smooth, killer grinds, the perfect weight distribution so that it's quick, but still stable. Plus it has a fantastic modern aesthetic that always reminds me of the PhenomIZM and the Freq. Wav. Needless to say I was completely satisfied so I asked Jacky if he wanted some help improving his company's image. I joined the team and was suddenly in charge of marketing in the US.

Mythrow can be thought of as the yoyo making division of Fenghuida. We've slowly grown from an unknown side project to the most accessible yoyo machining service in existence. At it's core, MyThrow will always be a group of dedicated and passionate yoyo designers and machinists.
